The club should be an outgrowth of your local church. The local church may be willing to support you with prayer, volunteers, and finances. It costs about $300-$500 a year to run a club.

There should be an 8:1 student-to-volunteer ratio. All volunteers should be at least 18 years old (high school students can help only if there is adequate adult supervision).

All volunteers need to have a background check completed and should be committed members of your local church. Parents of CIA students are welcome to help, but they should not be asked to teach or facilitate a small group.

At least one of the CIA leaders should be involved in the school or have a child attending the school. Encourage them to seek the principal’s approval to visit the kids at lunchtime to build relationships. We are not allowed to evangelize during lunchtime or school hours. It is important that this is honored; we do not want to endanger the favor and trust given to us by the school administration. Discussions about the Lord should be done only during club time or after school hours.
